Earthquakes 3-D Model Making Kit

Earthquakes release huge amounts of energy and cause tremendous amounts of destruction in many parts of the world.

Your students will enjoy learning about earthquakes with this dynamic model. First, they make their subsurface model and model of a city using the colorful parts.

Then they use their subsurface model to look at the features of an earthquake, epicenter, focus (hypocenter) and the P and S seismic waves.

They then use their model of a city to look at the destructive effects of the surface L and R waves.

The Model Making Kit includes enough materials for students to assemble up to 5 paper models working cooperatively. Using the ready-to-use materials provided with each 3-D model set, students first assemble a model to represent a structure or an entire system as an aid to develop questions and explanations. They will then generate data and observations that can be used to make predictions and communicate ideas to others.
